Nick Taylor Charity Classic 2024 Recap

Hosted by Canadian professional golfer Nick Taylor, Chris Bertram, and Algra Bro’s District 1881, the annual Nick Taylor Charity Classic golf tournament came out swinging on September 5th. The event was held at the Cultus Lake Golf Club, which provided an incredible atmosphere along with the perfect early September BC weather.

Topping last year’s success in raising over $275,000 for various charities, this year’s classic raised over $300,000 for young golfers, students, and others in the Chilliwack and Abbotsford communities.

These funds help support charities and organizations including Jumpstart Canada, First Tee British Columbia, Archway Community Services, Chilliwack Community Services, and endowments at UFV.

The money raised is helping to expand access to sports and give support for young athletes, provide educational opportunities at the University of the Fraser Valley, and support broad social services for the local community.

The stunning natural scenery and state-of-the-art driving range at the Cultus Lake Golf Course was a beautiful event backdrop. Community members and golfers alike came together to support and celebrate these causes and have some fun.

The fundraiser started with a kickoff earlier this summer on Thunderbird Lane. People of all stripes came together for an eventful day out to learn more about the charity classic and have fun with all levels of golfing activities. Kids were able to golf with Taylor and get some unforgettable pro tips, and adults were invited to try his famous 72 foot putt.

The fundraiser was a broad community effort, and a huge success, with the charities involved getting a huge boost of support.

Jumpstart Canada and First Tee BC both help kids get active and involved with local golfing, and other sport opportunities. These organizations help kids learn more about sports and get involved with teams, as well as financially supporting them to continue.

Chilliwack Community Services and Archway Community Services both help expand social services to all members of their communities. Finally, endowments at UFV help these university students by expanding services and offering financial aid.
The $300,000 of charitable donations this year is thanks to the winner, hosts, participants, and spectators of this tournament.

The following day, Taylor hosted a gala and fireside chat to celebrate all participants and to speak on the overall mission of the fundraiser. According to Taylor, it’s crucial to give back to the community while also sharing connections with that same community, which is what this fundraiser is all about. The charities involved offered their gratitude as well, and the winner of the tournament gave closing remarks.

The 2025 tournament will be held around the same time in autumn of next year, and anyone is encouraged to participate or simply show up for the celebration. Whether you want to compete, play for fun, or spectate for a good cause, there’s a place for you here.

The charities mentioned are still accepting donations on behalf of the Nick Taylor Charity Classic. Interested in getting involved? You can donate here on the charity classic jumpstart page.
